1 To begin with, you need to choose a design. First time try to find simple Cross Stitch Design with few colors. Each square on this design is one cross stitch. Also you need a hoop, threads (chart of your design shows you the colors you need), fabric and needle.
2. When you begin your first stitch bring your needle with thread up through the back of your work and live a thread tail (near 2 cm) at the back. Then stitch over this tail for the next few stitches - it secure your thread. Never knot your thread. When you run out of thread just run the needle under few stitches on the back and start new thread the same way.
3. When you stitching make a row of one half of cross stitch first (for example from bottom left side to top right side of the square), then return making another half (from bottom right side to top left side). Always make your stitches on one direction - the finished work with stitches on one direction looks better.
4. When you stitching from one area to another do not carry your thread more then 2 cm across the back of your work.
5. Drop your needle every 6-7 stitches to let your thread untwist.
6. Maintain same tension in each stitch. The stitches have to lay flat but do not pull your thread too hard.
